The easy part is finding a home. Real estate web sites like this one offer a wide variety of ways to search for homes for sale in whatever city or neighborhood you would like to live. After you find a house what is next?

If you contact a real estate agent, one of the first things they are going to advise you to do is get pre-qualified. This is one of the most important steps in buying a home.

Getting pre-qualified

To get pre-qualified means you talk with a lender to find out if your credit history and income is satisfactory for obtaining a mortgage. With information you provide to the lender, she/he will be able to tell you what price range you should be shopping in, if the house you found fits in that range, the interest rate of the loan available to you and the down payment you will need to have saved in order to complete the transaction.
