BestPlaces, New York, NY is considered the 4th best city in the country for singles who are relocating.  Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY ranked 60th out of 100.  Albany/Schenectady, NY was 76th and Nassau/Suffolk, NY ended up at number 85 out of the top100 cities.

The average sales price of a Manhattan condo or co-op increased 5.4 percent over the last quarter of 2006, according to Prudential Douglas Elliman report. Brown Harris Stevens and Halstead Property said prices in the first three months of 2007 inched up 6 percent in the same period.

The New York State Association of Realtors recently released figures showing a 6.3 percent decrease in sales last year across the state, but the 101,131 single-family homes sold in 2006 was only 3.1 percent less than 2004 figures. Real estate officials say that means the housing market is slowing down, but is still strong, noting the 2006 figure is still the third-highest on record.

Manhattan properties sold in the third quarter of the year rose by 21 per cent compared with the same period last year.
